Is it alright to have bridesmaid’s gown match color of bridal gown?

I wanted a dress that is a little formal ivory or champagne color and I was planning on my bridesmaid to wear a formal ballgown I use to own. It’s a champagne color with gold accents. I know that bridesmaid’s traditionally wear the colors of the wedding, mine are African Violet and Plum, but I just thought it would be better cost wise if she wore something else.

Nooooooo. You won’t stand out. You want to look different not the same….

    Which one is the bride?

Shell be mistaken for you if you back is turned or if shes standing next to your new husband.

it is your wedding so it is 100% up to you. a wedding is a big event and you only have one time to make it perfect. if you think your bridesmaid would look better in your wedding colors then do that. i understand you wanting to save money but i think a wedding is a good reason to splurge. it is 100% up to you tho. i think there is nothing wrong with wearing a different color. anyways i hope you have a nice wedding :)

Look, it’s YOUR wedding. You can do whatever you want. You don’t have to go with the old traditional wedding like everybody else. It’s a once in a lifetime thing so do what YOU want! Everybody will still be focusing on you regardless of other dresses because they came to see you! duh!

Bottom line- its your wedding, if that is what you want go for it. BUT, you are supposed to look special on your wedding day and not blend in. if cost is an issue, you can find sooooo many cheap and pretty dresses online or at wholesale boutiques, even Ebay. My personal opinion, i wouldnt have her in the same color.

No go with a different color.

    I think that sounds lovely.
There is nothing anyone can do or wear that will take the light off the bride that day.
    I say go for it.

If you want her to use that dress you have try accenting the dress with the colors you are using. For example if there is a defined waist add a African violet sash, or if it is strapless you can take that sash and with a few adjustments use it as a cuff along the top of the dress just to add a little color and she will not look just like you. If you would line any other suggestions let me know. Hope this helps
